Mayday Growth
Mayday Manufacturing and Hi-tech Metal Finishing have recently acquired an 80,000 sqft (7,500 m2) building located approximately one mile from their existing corporate headquarters in Denton, Texas. Over the next year, the new facility will undergo remodeling and upgrades to convert it from its previous use as a high-bay warehouse to the modern, temperature-controlled, manufacturing facility appropriate for the company’s use.
“With our continued investments in equipment and team members, and our forecasted growth, it became clear we will outgrow our current facility, both in office and manufacturing floor space by the third quarter of 2013” stated Randy Kempf, CEO. Mayday Manufacturing and sister company Hi-Tech Metal Finishing, (combined as Mayday Holdings LLC), currently occupy two buildings on the same campus. The new facility will allow the companies to be under one roof, but still retain their separate identities.
The remodeling will start in the early summer and last through late 2012. It will include new plating lines and waste treatment facilities for Hi-Tech as well as improved flow of product in a well-lit building for Mayday in this 200’ x 400’ building. Situated on over 10 acres of land, it allows for future expansion should it be required.
Given its close proximity to the companies’ current location, the move will be completed in an orderly migration over a period of several months, moving one Production cell at a time. Likewise, Hi-Tech will maintain both the old and new plating lines until all of Maydays’ equipment has been relocated – both moves completed well before the capacity is actually required. Mayday has proven its ability to make a move of this magnitude when it relocated 30% of its CNC equipment last year from its main building to one partially occupied by Hi-Tech on the same campus. This move was accomplished largely over a weekend with no production interruptions. Additionally, the company will adjust its ERP’s production schedule for each planned cell move to trigger “build ahead” as well as arrange for earlier raw material deliveries.
As the move progresses, updates will be posted to the company’s website at www.maydaymfg.com/maydaygrowth so you can watch the company grow. For additional information, contact Randy Kempf, CEO.
“We look forward to moving into the new facility and the continued growth that it will allow - serving our valued customers for the next 50 years as we have over the past 50 years. While our facility will have a new look, our focus on supplying the Aerospace Industry with high quality, specification-compliant bushings and Processing, on-time and at a competitive cost will remain the same.”
